In a dramatic court martial which ended today, Prince
Hanse
Davion commuted the sentence of former AFFS Major Justin Xiang
to permanent exile from the Federated Suns. Xiang was charged
with High Treason for collaborating with House Liao against
the rightful rule of House Davion. Xiang was immediately put on
an outbound dropship heading out of Federated Suns' space.

A Buccaneer Dropship which crash-landed near the coast
was
raised by salvage crews. Nobody was killed when the Dropship
made the water landing, although many were injured. The Dropship
has been claimed by a mercenary unit.

It has been almost a year since Duchess Selena Kyle
claimed
the title of Solaris Champion. But since then she has not deigned
to defend her title. The Solaris Commission may soon have bow to
the mounting pressure from other Solaris Mechwarriors, such as
top contenders Philip Capet and Allen Fitz, to strip Kyle of the
title and hold another Championship Series. Kyle Stables refused
to comment on the whereabouts of the Duchess.

The New Year has found the Inner Sphere in its third
year of
an uneasy peace. The continuing cold war means that the Taurian
Defense Forces must remain ever vigilant to an incursion by the
currently idling militaries of the Federated Suns or the Capellan
Confederation. Economically, trade with both powers is up 25%
from a year ago. Closer ties with the nearby periphery state of
Canopus have already brought in much needed funds from rich
Canopian investors.
