Free Worlds League Remains Aloof

Free Worlds League
With war erupting everywhere in the Inner Sphere, the Free Worlds
League borders remain quiet. To be sure, League troops have been
put on alert; but the League has so far managed to stay out of
the fighting, to the chagrin of its allies.
Janos Marik, who only recently returned to Atreus from Terra,
is busy trying to align the League member states to support a
common goal. While the natural inclination should be to attack
the Lyran Commonwealth, a vocal block led by Andurien clamors to
attack the Capellan Confederation and finish them off once and
for all.
"Now is the time to rid ourselves of our greatest and most hated
enemy!" exclaimed Dame Catherine Humphreys of Andurien. "We must
seize the opportunity that the Federated Suns' offensive has
presented to us. Strike now while they are weak!"
Altair on Full Alert

Draconis Combine
The streets of Altair City are deserted and most shops are open
only a few hours of each day -- testament to the fact that all
able-bodied citizens have been called up to man the many militia
regiments of the planet. Only workers in vital industries have
been exempted from the general call-up.
When asked if the total mobilization is really necessary, Captain
Hugo Mongus of the Royal Guard replied: "Of course it's vital!
A War just started and this planet is on the front line! Hell,
it's on two front lines! Now get out of my way, I have a company
to run!"
Other than the furious military preparations, Altair remains a
relatively quiet planet. Neither the Federated Suns nor the Lyran
Commonwealth have attacked this planet. In fact, the whole of the
Al Na'ir Prefecture has been unmolested, even though it borders
both of the FedCom states. Still, if you ask anyone on Altair,
they'll say that it's only a matter of time.

The Dragon Battles The Wolf
Glenmora (287.92, 53.46)
Dahar IV Polymorphous Defense Zone
Draconis March
Federated Suns
The only Draconis Combine response to the resumption of the
Succession Wars has been to attack Wolf's Dragoons on the planets
of Harrow's Sun, Wapakoneta, and Glenmora. A half-dozen Mech
regiments and a dozen conventional regiments square off against
a Dragoon force that barely fields three regiments worth of
Mechs.
The fighting has been particularly heavy, as the Galedon troops
are incensed after Warlord Grieg Samsonov was found murdered in
his home on Galedon V. Along with his body was found evidence
that the Dragoons arranged for this heinous act. Several units
have already sworn blood oaths against the Dragoons.
But every day that the DCMS focuses on the Dragoons and does not
attack the Federated Suns is another day that the AFFS can use
to subjugate the Capellan Confederation. The Coordinator may
soon have to personally intervene before its Concord of Kapteyn
ally becomes a March of the Federated Suns.

Draconis Combine
On the world of Harvest and on two dozen other worlds in along
the Draconis Combine border, thirty Mech regiments along with
over two hundred supporting regiments have caught the Combine
forces napping. The LCAF has surprisingly won most of these
campaigns, designed to keep the Combine off-balance and unable
to attack the Federated Suns whilst the AFFS splits the Capellan
Confederation in twain.
A case in point is the world of Harvest, which is a major source
of foodstuff for a half dozen nearby planets. Three Lyran Mech
regiments supported by almost 40 conventional regiments squared
off against two mercenary regiments and only a score of conven-
tional regiments. Surprise and the a newfound ability to conduct
mobile warfare has resulted in sharp defeats for the Kuritans,
who abandoned the planet only three weeks after the invasion
started.
"It's like shooting fish in a barrel," said Leutnant-Colonel
Ostola Stellwar of the 1st Lyran Regulars. "The Dracs are totally
unprepared to wage an extended campaign. We timed our offensive
at the time when their supplies are the lowest and just after
the new recruits from the academies have rotated in. Our forces
can keep this up all the way to Luthien!"
