Summary
On Solaris:
A couple more arena battles for Kyle Stables results in one win and one
tie. Kyle Stables is now ranked #47. Michelle's father comes to visit
her. He brings news that her younger brother, an officer in the DCMS,
has gone missing when his unit ventured into the coreward periphery on
a punitive bandit expedition. She will go searching for her brother.
Clyde will go with her. Will Selena go also?
Michelle hires another RG infantry squad, to bring up the Blowfish
infantry to two full platoons. Rufus gives Selena a nice poem.
On Galtor III:
Izzy continues training the planetary militia. He stored the Black Box
he found in his Mech's cockpit. After a routine patrol, he notices a
humming coming from the Box. He takes out the box, which has four rods
sticking out of the top that are glowing softly. When he powers up his
Mech he notices that the Box makes more noise and it gets brighter. He
powers back down and hides the Black Box in his quarters.
Izzy runs a complete diagnostics of his Mech and finds that power
output
from the fusion reactor is down 10%, which is more than the norm. He
checks Roger's Mech which is performing within normal parameters.
On Altair:
Sir Wrigley is in charge. The Yakuza lord of the planet comes to pay
his
respects to the Duchess. Wrigley doesn't blow it. A few days later, an
explosion rocks downtown. Lots of civilians are killed. Wrigley
initiates
an investigation, preliminary findings are that it is gang related.
Not satisfied, Sir Wrigley has the police dig deeper. The second report
says that there seems to be some sort of gang war between the local
Yakuza and a Tong gang trying to muscle in. Wrigley puts out the word
that he wants to speak with the Tong lord, who sends a lieutenant to
parlay with Sir Wrigley. Wrigley rudely dismisses the lieutenant,
saying
he will only speak with the head honcho.
Later, Wrigley takes his lance on "maneuvers". Sean finds out that the
Tongs are going to assassinate Sir Wrigley. He takes his lance and
finds
Wrigley's lance just as an assault lance attacks. Wrigley's forces are
five light/medium mechs plus Wrigley's Atlas. They face a Banshee,
a Charger, a Warhammer, a JagerMech, and a Rifleman. The Tong
Mechwarriors seem inexperienced.
The battle starts with the Rifleman taking some damage and falling
down.
The Charger is sorrounded and hit hard. Wrigley hits the Warhammer.
Return fire is rather ineffective. As the battle progresses the Tongs
keep taking damage while inflicting little damage themselves. Suddenly,
with a fierce battle cry, the Tong Mechwarriors act as if possessed.
Their fire is much more effective and Wrigley's forces are quickly
whittled down.
At this point the Tongs have lost the Rifleman, the Charger has hip
damage, the Banshee has two engine hits, the Warhammer has lost lots
of armor, but the JagerMech is untouched. Wrigley's forces have lost
three Mechs, but Wrigley's Atlas is relatively unharmed. The Tongs
seem to be fighting less effectively now and start retreating, taking
down one another of Wrigley's mechs. The JagerMech takes some fire
from Wrigley and explodes in a blazing fireball.
After the battle, the Blowfish find no enemy survivors. All disabled
Mechs have been destroyed, so salvage is minimal. It seems that round
1 has gone to the Tongs.
