Summary
Selena hires personnel and facilities for her new stable. She also
hires
two Mechwarriors. Then she hosts a party to announce the Kyle Stable,
which starts out ranked 50 out of 50 stables. The Lyran Commonwealth
doesn't go to her party. She gets the most interest from the Draconis
Combine, The Taurian Concordat, and the Magistry of Canopus.
Rufus escorts Selena during the party. Robert Hopton, who Selena met
previously, stops by to talk to her. Rufus becomes jealous and a fight
ensues, ending with Rufus challenging Robert to a Mech duel.
Clyde, ranked #9, challenges the #4 ranked Class 3 Mechwarrior. They
fight in the Mudpit and Clyde faces a modified Hatchetman. Without
mobility they just trade shots at medium range. Clyde destroys the
other's leg but he gets back up. In a flurry of shots, Clyde's Mech
loses its right torso and the ammo explodes, shutting down his Mech.
Clyde drops to rank #10.
Selena enters the Unlimited Class Qualifications. Her first match is
against an Awesome in a scrap yard. The Awesome pilot is significantly
better than her and always gets the initiative. Her Mech is hammered as
she tries to close in. She hits several times but doesn't penetrate the
Awesome's armor. The Awesome concentrates on her legs. She loses a leg
and is eventually destroyed.
Rufus and Robert fight in a king-of-the-hill arena. Rufus, who is jump
capable, takes the high ground. But Robert keeps winning initiative
and tags Rufus several times while taking minimal damage. Rufus loses
two jump jets, which severely limits his maneuverability. He decides
to make a last stand, which lasts for 15 seconds as Robert destroys
Rufus' Mech with a head hit.
All three matches were low-powered.
Kyle Stables arranges a couple of team matches, which the Stable
Mechwarriors win easily. Kyle Stables is now ranked at #48.
