Summary
Meanwhile, back on Altair, Roy is in charge of the cleanup
operations after the recent rebellion. Documents are found,
indicating that the rebels have a secret base on one of the
moons of Altair. Roy decides to personally lead his company
to root out this last remnant of the rebellion.
The cratered lunar offers few places to land a dropship. The
nearest suitable site is several kilometers from the rebel
base. As they approach, enemy Mechs are detected, Roy sends
in Rufus' lance to secure the landing site. Rufus encounters
a lance of medium Mechs, which his heavy lance can easily handle.
Another rebel lance of light Mechs soon joins the fray.
The eerie, airless quiet of the moon combines with the low
gravity to create a surrealistic combat scene. Mechs flit
about at a couple of hundred kilometers per hour -- their pilots
striving to keep their Mechs' legs from snapping from the
strain. Mechs are quickly crippled from lucky hits that breach
a limb or torso location. Rufus' Catapult is disabled by one
such lucky hit.
Sensing that the tide is turning against the beleaguered Blowfish
Mechs, Roy dispatches Dale's Recon Lance to reinforce the trio
of remaining Blowfish. Another lance of light Mechs also arrives
from the rebel side. But the fight quickly turns against the
rebels. Dale skillfully drops his lance to bracket the rebel
Mechs and in the ensuing exchange, three rebel Mechs go down.
A few more quick volleys drops more rebel Mechs, prompting the
remaining four Mechs to flee back to their base. With the landing
site secured, the dropship lands safely. Roy prepares to lead
his men to the rebel base.
In other news, Selena and company return to Altair. Wrigley
arrives at Sirius to find a Marik fleet waiting for him.
