Summary
Altair:
With the Skye Rangers holding Dragon's Domain, Selena slowly advances
with her forces. The Rangers have a strong defensive position, and
Selena decides to send a small force through a hidden mountain pass
to outflank the defenders. Newly promoted Lieutenant Katherine Pryde
is the lead lance, whose job it is to clear the pass for the follow
on forces.
Katherine's lance surges ahead, relying on speed to mitigate any
ambushes. They search through the pass, destroying a couple of Ranger
Mechs. In a hilly valley, the lance is ambushed by a Griffin and
Wolverine hidden in a couple of caves. The furious fight leaves
Katherine with only two Mechs, both damaged. Still, she decides to
press on.
Entering a deep canyon, Katherine and her lancemate meet a Hatchetman
and a Centurion. The two enemy Mechs drive forward, pushing back the
beleaguered smaller Mechs. Blake's Spider is taken down, but Katherine
also takes down the Hatchetman with a lucky shot. Katherine and the
Centurion trade shots. The Centurion has more weapons, since Katherine
is down a laser and out of Gauss ammo. But Katherine's superior
quickness
partially offsets the bigger Mech's advantage.
Finally, after taking more damage. Katherine scores a lucky ammo hit
which cripples the Centurion. Katherine rushes forward and finishes off
the Centurion, securing the pass. Seeing that they've been outflanked,
the Skye Rangers retreat from Dragon's Domain.
