Summary
In 2767, Stefan Amaris (The Usurper) decided to ship a jumpshipful of
ancient
artifacts to the Rim Worlds Republic, to fund their economy against the
Star
League Defense Forces. The Jumpship Winter Wolf, escorted by three
Warships,
departed Terra in early October of that year. SLDF agents unearthed
these
facts and informed General Aleksandr Kerensky, who immediately
dispatched
the 45th Naval Squadron to intercept the convoy.
ISF agents unearthed similar information, yet did not gain a complete
manifest.
Coordinator Minoru Kurita believed that Ambassador Drago Kurita and
family, who
had been taken hostage by Amaris, was being transported on the Winter
Wolf to
the Rim Worlds Republic. Sensing an opportunity to rescue his kin,
Kurita sent
the closest squadron, the 13th Intercept Group, to capture the Winter
Wolf.
The three forces converged on the Rasalhague Zenith Point. Commodore
Serena
Kyle, in command of the SLDF squadron, immediately ordered an attack
while
Commodore Bir Wrigley, in command of the DCMS squadron, cautiously
moved his
group forwards. The RWR Warships split up, with two Whirlwind
Destroyers
engaging the DCMS squadron while the other Warship engaged the SLDF
squadron.
Commodore Wrigley, on seeing the open gun ports of the RWR Warships,
ordered
his squadron to open fire. The combined firepower of the three DCMS
Warships
quickly destroyed the two Whirlwinds while taking some minor damage on
one
of the Essex Destroyers. The last RWR Warship decided to stay away and
let
the other two groups fight it out.
Commodore Kyle sent one Warship flanking left, drawing fire from the
Kuritans
while her flagship, the Cameron Class Battlecruiser Invisible Truth,
closed
on the Kuritan flagship and destroyed it in a massive broadsides
volley. With
their flagship destroyed, the other two Kuritan Warships were quickly
dispatched
by the SLDF squadron. On seeing this, the last RWR Warship fled the
scene and
left the Winter Wolf to its fate.
With the capture of the artifacts, Commodore Kyle was given the order
to store
them in safekeeping until after the Civil War was decided. In a perhaps
not
too surprising move, Kyle led her squadron to her homeworld of Altair,
and hid
the artifacts deep in one of the mountains of the Central Continent.
Where they
have remained to this day.
