Bridge doesn't
actually know Mason and Jupiter all that well. He's always been
fascinated with heroes. Mason and Jupiter used to belong to The
Minutemen, a hero group that operated out of New York about 10 years
ago. They've since retired and Mason is working on a book. Bridge found
them out and as he's known them as a somewhat enthusiastic fan. Though
Bridge regrets getting them involved in his plot, he reasons it's
better if it were those two rather than two innocent people.
While talking to Bridge and Knight, John might notice something. This
would be an INT/WILL vs OV/RV 7/7 (5/5 with a +1 Column Shift for
Multi-Attack).
- 1 RAP (15): "Bridge is hiding something. But then
again, most of your employers have something to hide."
- 4 RAPs (28): "Strangely, you don't sense that Sandra
Knight is all that upset about Sally Jupiter's abduction. Certainly
less than would be indicated by her previous crying."
- 7 RAPs (32): "Stanislaus Bridge is a smooth liar, but
it's obvious to you that he's leaving something important out. Hollis
Mason and Sally Jupiter are definitely not close friends. Still, he
does want you to find them. But why?"

John can call
or visit the police and talk to Detective Chin Ho Kelly. Though
Detective Kelly will ask him why he wants the information, a few
untruths or a suitable bribe will open him up. This is a Persuasion
roll with a Base OV/RV = 3/3, -1 OV CS Bonus if John mentions that he's
working for Stanislaus Bridge, though he will lose 1/2 a Standard
Award. +1 CS Penalty if he doesn't have a good excuse for wanting the
information. -2 OV/RV Bonus if he uses his Gift of Gab to Charm
Detective Kelly. +1 CS Penalty for Multi-Attack (he's trying to get
information on two cases).
- 1 RAP (9): "We're treating this as two totally
separate cases. Witnesses saw three black men at the Mason crime while
at the Jupiter crime it was three white men."
- 2 RAPs (9): "A black plastic pin with the letters ANA
was found at the Mason crime scene. At the Jupiter crime scene we found
a leaflet for today's Peace Rally in the park."
- 3 RAPs (11): "We believe the ANA pin is from the
American Negro Alliance, who have an office in Island City. Witnesses
claim that the white criminals were wearing masks with a green Peace
symbol painted on the face."
