Encounter 5: Mole's House

The Mole lives in a brown two-story house. This would be an old house but Island City is not an old city. The Mole is already dead in his bedroom, beaten to death with a baseball bat (Detective vs OV/RV 3/3). The heroes can find a flyer to the Peace Rally (Perception vs OV/RV 5/5). The flier has "See Stickman about hostages" pencilled on it. Proceed to Encounter 6.

Encounter 6: Concert in the Park

There are a couple hundred college-aged kids at the park to listen to speeches and good around. The rally starts early and goes on throughout the day, so chances are that the heroes arrive sometime in the middle. Have them look around a bit. There's a chance that they'll find the Peace Front activists responsible for half of the kidnappings. These are just a girl and two guys who will point out Stickman as their leader.

But should nothing happen Stickman will make his appearance and talk for about half an hour. Mostly he preaches about peace and against The Man, equating super-heroes with The Establishment. Should the characters try to apprehend him while he's giving his speech the crowd will likely get quite angry. Waiting until after the speech the crowd will slowly get upset unless talked down.

When questioned (OV/RV 5/5) Stickman will say that Moloch hired him and the Mole to kidnap some people "to further the cause". If questioned closely he will admit that he never actually met Moloch in person. After talking to Stickman the heroes will probably want to visit Moloch. Go to Encounter 7.

Encounter 7: Assault on Moloch's Lair

The Wizard is meeting with Moloch (really The Gambler) about creating a criminal alliance. The Icicle, as Moloch's bodyguard, is also present. Those three, plus sundry bodyguards, are on the top floor. There are several options:

Talk The heroes can talk their way to meet with Moloch. This requires an INFL/AURA vs OV/RV 6/6 (1 RAP = schedule meeting the next morning, 3 RAPs = schedule meeting right after Wizard leaves, 6 RAPs = see heroes now while Wizard waits).

Fly Flying heroes can just fly up and take a look around. Note that if they're spotted alarms will go off.

Force The heroes can also just barge through the lobby. Security guards will try to stop them and unless they're talked down they'll also alert Moloch and crew.

Assuming the heroes force a confrontation Moloch and Icicle will defend themselves. Wizard will also aid in their defense as a way to put Moloch in his debt. If the heroes are losing, Wizard can always leave as he'll believe that an alliance with Moloch has too many negatives. Moloch will deny anything about any kidnapping (indeed since he's not involved) and the fight should end in a cease fire or with the villains defeated. Should Moloch win he'll call the police to have the heroes arrested. In both cases proceed to Encounter 8.
