Encounter 8: Defy the Devil

Eventually, the heroes will have a chance to talk to Moloch. He will deny any involvement in the kidnappings. As they talk or argue, the characters should notice a piece of paper on the table, among the other documents. INT/WILL or Recall vs OV/RV 5/5 to recall that the piece of paper was not there before. INT/WILL or Vision Power vs OV/RV 8/8 to spot the Phantom Lady placing the paper on the table.

The document is titled "Moloch's Master Plan", detailing the kidnappings, which leads to various blackmail schemes in order to reap huge rewards for Moloch. The plan also specifies the address of an abandoned warehouse on the waterside where the hostages are being kept.

Moloch will claim that he's being framed. If Moloch has the upper hand, he will release the heroes in good faith so that they can rescue the hostages. Otherwise the heroes can leave on their own. Once the heroes depart, proceed to Encounter 9.

Encounter 9: The Rescue

The hostages are being kept in the corner of a warehouse, guarded by two goons. Super-villains present include Sportsmaster and the Shade. Should either have been captured (and/or if the heroes seem too powerful), add The Fiddler to the villains. Should the villains be too strong, have the Shade lay back and flee if things turn sour for the Sportsman.

Assuming the heroes win, the villains will not have any useful information. As far as their concerned, it was Moloch who hired them. None have actually talked to Moloch face to face. It was always on the phone or through a pretty intermediary -- "a good looking dame" who in reality was Sandra Knight.
