Encounter 9: KABOOM!

The bomb is underneath the flagpole.

All

"As you arrive once again at Central Plaza, you can't help but think that all the people walking about may suddenly be vaporized at any second. But where is the bomb? You can't help but admire the new map of Hawaii, with Island City marked by the new flagpole, the state flag flying proudly."

Ok, at this point if the heroes have no clue where the bomb is, they should lose a -1/2 Miscellaneous Award. Conversely, if they got here after the first warning ("I will blow Island City off the face of the map!") then give them a +1/2 Miscellaneous Award. For the clueless, here are some options for finding the bomb:
  • Awareness (just for the heck of it) (OV/RV 15/15).
  • Analytical Smell/Tracking Scent to smell out the explosives (OV/RV 8/8).
  • Detective (OV/RV 4/4).
  • Perception (OV/RV 15/15).
  • Hearing Power to hear ticking bomb (OV/RV 8/8).
1 RAP = somewhere near/on the new map, 1/2 RV RAPs = near/on the flag pole, Full RV RAPs = underneath flag pole. Heroes can try one method per minute, which only matters if the bomb has been armed in Encounter 8.

Once the bomb is found, it can be dug up (floor is BODY 8) and disarmed (see below). Or Ghost Girl can phase the detonator away Dispersal vs OV/RV 10/10 since she can't see it well and she doesn't know anything about explosives, need 1 RAP). If Ghost Girl fails the bomb explodes (hopefully the civilians have been cleared from the area) with 20 APs of force.

Disarming the Bomb. There are four wires: red, yellow, blue, green. Use Military Science, Gadgetry, Scientist, or Detective vs OV/RV 10. Every hero can roll once:

1-2 RAPs: not the red wire.
3 RAPs: not the yellow wire.
4 RAPs: no the blue wire.

The bomb can also be flown or thrown away (Weight = 2 APs).

Go To Encounter 7 or 8 if they haven't been done yet. Otherwise go to Endgame.
