Encounter 2: Commuter Trouble

All

"You reach the Regional Transit Bus Depot. There is no shiny new bus present and the gathered crowd is already departing. As you stop to ask where the bus is right now, you hear gunshots and faint cries of people in distress in the distance."

The bus has been hijacked by two Naval Commandos dressed up as tourists. They have attached an explosive to the ceiling of the bus and are threatening to blow it up if their demands are not met. They demand the immediate release of Sportsmaster, but since they're trying to stall for time they won't give their demand immediately, though they will mention the bomb and have signs up on the windows (mostly covering them) with "THERE IS A BOMB ON THIS BUS". On They'll have the bus drive around to stall for time.

Should the heroes rush in haphazardly they won't receive the "Saving Innocents" Award. To really save the innocents they'll need to find out that the bomb is fake before rushing in, or they can give in to the demands and have the Sportsmaster released. As the climax approaches they should receive a call about the prison breakout (encounter 3).

Once Sumo is freed the two commandos will stop the bus in the middle of an intersections, then set off the smoke bombs while they have the passengers stream out of the bus. They will try to slip out through the sewers, splitting up into two. Neither commando knows the rest of the plan, so they will be of little help if captured.
The money on the bus goes Clink, clink, clink,
Clink, clink, clink, clink, clink, clink.
The money on the bus goes Clink, clink, clink.
All through the town!

Analytical Smell vs OV/RV 4/4 to smell the sea water (1 RAP) and to tell they're Japanese (4 RAPs). Postcognition (11 = 4 min: "Make sure to leave the note.", 15 = 15 min: "Why are we testing these heroes?" "I just follow orders.", 21 = 1 hour: "I can't wait to be back on the submarine tonight."). Note that the commandos are talking in Japanese: Comprehend Languages vs OV/RV 6 (need 11). Note that with Extended Hearing, John Gilmore might here the above statements too.

The Bus

BODY 8, Speed 5. Six 6 AP Fog Grenades attached to the underside (Perception vs OV/RV 4/4 to spot), enough to cover the bus out to about 15 feet away. The smoke grenades will be set off so the commandos can make their escape. A hole has been cut in the floor of the bus.

The Bomb

BODY 8, 8 AP Fog. Military Science (Demolition) vs OV/RV 4/4; Detective (Clue Analysis) or Thief (Security Systems) vs OV/RV 6/6; or Gadgetry (Identify) vs OV/RV 8/8 to tell it's not an explosive bomb.

Troubleshooting If the heroes ignore the bus-jacking, continue with the radio report of the prison break. They should lose a -1/2 Role Playing Award.
