The next day
Tok was up. We decided to have Tev blink over to the other side of the
door and look around, then report back. So he did that and we waited.
And waited. And just about when we'd given Tev up for dead he popped
back to us. Strangely though, he was wearing a full suit of scale armor
that fit him to a T. And this is the tale he had to tell:
"Once I blinked through, it was easy enough to outrun the ball and head
through one of the other doors. The ball was too big to follow me so I
rasberried it and went downstairs. That ended in a door so I came back
up and ran across to the other side. Another flight of stairs down,
ending in a door. Totally not a dog-friendly design.
"Well, I was having fun with the ball so the next time I ran through I
feigned a sudden cramp and it almost got me before I sped away. The
rest of the complex is full of small rooms with lots of rotted
furniture and quite messy. They badly need maid service. In the middle
of the place -- I know because dogs have excellent spatial perception
-- there is a room with something wondrous.
"A cylinder of light. And not just any light, but luminescent swirl of
colors, or of black and white since I can't see in color. But it glowed
with power, sheer power, mine to command! It called to me and I stepped
closer and closer. First I had to sniff it. Then I had to lick it. And
that's when the world exploded and I found myself here."
Hmm. Perhaps that is the column of light in my vision. Obviously it was
not meant for Tev, who had to call on Divine Intervention to save
himself, hence why he got the armor. Surprisingly, he wasn't totally
selfish, as he also asked for the bar to be removed.

While Tev was
gone, Nakaro, Timroth and I decided to explore the other
end of our little world. We trekked back through the room we teleported
into. Another nondescript corridor. We were expecting some sort of trap
on the floor so Nakaro went first. Then he tripped something because
several crossbow bolts shot at him, out of the wall. We looked closer
and saw that the wall was filled with holes, all the way down the
corridor.
Nakaro has good armor, but one bolt was bound to get through. So we
went back and got a shield. Then Nakaro calmly walked down the
corridor, and nothing got past the shield and armor. We opened the door
on the other side and felt a blast of refreshing cold air, which
chilled the other two. Hmm, this looked bad. Perhaps the other room was
unnaturally cold. So I went into the alcove and somehow I opened the
door by myself.
It was a winter wonderland. Deliciously cold, I did not think I would
ever feel cold again. Everything was frozen solid in this room. It was
cold enough to kill anybody else in the party. I looked around, tried
to open the other door without success. There were also trap doors in
the floor and ceiling, though I had no chance to open it by myself.
That's when I spotted the medallion. Made out of hateful gold, it was
strangely not covered in frost. I tried to stamp it out and got a hot
foot for my trouble. Hmm, evil magic. But perhaps useful to the others.
So I picked it up by the chain and went back to the others. Timroth
tried it on and afterwards he could walk into the cold room, though it
was still cold to him. At least he wasn't dead.
With two people we tried to open the door and failed. So we went back
to Nakaro and from there back to Tok and Krelga, where we waited until
Tev appeared. So now Tev had armor, not that it makes him an effective
fighter or anything. If nothing else, it means he's not getting as many
healing spells off. And now that his POW is down it's even worse. Heck,
he can't blink anymore without becoming unconscious. What to do, what
to do? There was nothing but to go on... |
