Step 5: Starfleet Academy -- Sophomore Year
- a. Choose (or roll randomly) 4 of the skills from
Table 5.1. You may choose skills from Table 4.1 if you can't use all
your picks due to clause (d).
- b. Choose 4 DP worth from your Aspect/Focus tables,
noting that you can't choose options previously taken. The only
exception is to add a point into an advantage to make it better. You
may also spend DP to remove disadvantages, or to start removing a
disadvantage. If you don't want to choose then roll on Table 5.2 and
then roll randomly in the Aspect/Focus tables.
- c. Note options chosen in Aspect/Focus tables.
- d. No attributes may be raised to more than 1 above
the species template. No edges may be raised to more than 2 above the
species template. You may have up to one edge at 2 above species
template. No skill may be raised above 2 (3) in this step. You may not
have more than two skills at 2 (3) after this step.

Step 6: Starfleet Academy -- Junior Year
- a. Choose your profession. You may choose randomly
via Tables 6.1 and 6.2
- b. Choose a specialized training package from Table
6.3, or roll under the corresponding profession table. Note that you
can't voluntarily violate clause (f) once you've chosen a package. Look
up the package in the ST:TNG Rulebook (p 72) or the Player's Guide (p
23).
- c. Choose 2 skills from Table 6.4 for your
profession. You may choose from Table 4.1 or Table 5.1 if you can't
choose from Table 6.4 without violating clause (f).
- d. Choose 2 DP worth from your Aspect/Focus tables,
noting that you can't choose options previously taken. The only
exception is to add a point into an advantage to make it better. You
may also spend DP to remove disadvantages, or to start removing a
disadvantage. If you don't want to choose then roll on Table 6.5 and
then roll randomly in the Aspect/Focus tables.
