Recap
A short episode with three players, just the kind of numbers that I
like. We find our intrepid players on a Runabout, shuttling back and
forth between Federation space and Altara, liasing between
Cat-Who-Yawns new government and the Federation council. Another
successful diplomatic mission ended just a few hours earlier.
Cat-Who-Yawns had presents for the three: battle sashes for John and
Clancy and two male cat-slaves for Krystal. ("What the heck am I
supposed to do with two cat-slaves?" "Isn't it obvious?").
On the way back the shuttle is attacked by a group of Klingon drones,
which manage to punch through one shield before they're all destroyed.
Where did the drones come from, this is nowhere near Klingon space?!?
Clancy has a ion residue to follow, which leads to a lonely star system
and then to a planet. An unusual planet, sorrounded by a purplish
nimbus cloud. But what's more intruiguing is the old Federation survey
ship orbiting the planet. The ship is the USS Karl Braun, lost for some
twenty years.
Sensor scans show no signs of life. Since they're in a shuttle, they
barrel into the Braun's shuttle bay. Once inside the ship, they have a
look-see and find the engine room in ruins. Some sort of explosion
ripped apart the engine room. The Captain's Log says that there was an
explosion, the Braun limped to this star system and the crew beamed
down to the planet to await rescue. But why were there no signals from
the planet? Sensor scans are a confusing miasma of contradictory
readings.
