"That is not
enough space for all my belongings."
"Ah well, you'll just have to adapt, Princess."...
For some reason Krystal and Katrina never became good friends. They
were like two opposite sides of the same coin. Krystal the high-browed,
well-to-do lady who could buy anything she needed; the one who treated
people as just more things to be bought and sold. Katrina, also the
first in her family to get into Starfleet Academy, at least that was
what she thought. She didn't really have a family, having grown up as
an orphan on the world of New Paris. But it hadn't turned her hard and
bitter like most orphans, at least not outwardly. Still, that wouldn't
have been enough to prevent these two to become steadfast comrades,
given enough time. Alas, it was not to be.
"Why do you keep that?" asked Krystal one day. Katrina always kept her
side of the room clean and spotless, all shiny and almost new-looking.
Except for a ragged teddy-bear laying on the bed. "You should get a new
one, that old thing is kind of smelly."
"It's a reminder," dismissed Katrina. "Of where I've been."
"Well, I still think you should get rid of it."...
"Surprise!" yelled the crowd of cadets as Kat stepped into the room.
"Happy Birthday!" Katrina looked stunned as Krystal walked up to her
and handed her a large, wrapped box. "Didn't think I had it in me, did
you?" queried Krystal. "Guess you can't call me an Ice Princess
anymore."

"This is sooo
great!" exclaimed Katrina as she opened Krysta's present. "What's
this?" she asked with a feeling of dread. "It's a new teddy bear. It's
about time you got a new one so I threw the old one away and got this
really cool one at Teddy-Bear World right over--"
"YOU WHAT!?!" yelled Kat, surprising Krys midspeech. "That's the only
thing I have left from my parents! And you threw it away! I'll kill
you!"...
After the fight, the two were separated, Katrina moving to another
Hall. Krystal took the time to realize what she had done wrong and
started to become a better person. Katrina though, she let her
bitterness and hatred consume her. She became an unfeeling cadet with
only one goal: to ruin Krystal's Academy career.
"Better stop daydreaming Princess. It's time to take down the bitch
queen herself," whispered John as he checked his phaser settings. "You
shouldn't talk about her like that," replied Krys. "She used to be a
good person."
"She is not that now," commented Zeb. "Her ruthless leadership
abilities are impressive. I calculate that she controls half the teams.
And they are all looking for you to make sure that you do not win."
"Oh, it's probably worse than that," speculated Kalhoun. "I don't know
how you got on her bad side, but I bet Little Miss Muffet has quite a
bee up her ass to hate you so." Krys gave him a stern look which John
blissfully ignored.
