Doom at Your Service (2021) [+]

Doom at Your Service is a South Korean romance drama of 16 episodes. Set in the modern day at a web publishing house -- they publish serialized novels on their web site and the employees/editor are busy managing the writers.

Tak Dong-kyung (Park Bo-young, lead in Oh My Ghost [2015] and part of an emsemble cast in Light Shop [2024]) has late stage cancer and three months to live. In frustration she curses the world and wishes its destruction which brings her to the attention of Doom (Seo In-guk, also in Oh My Ghost in a 1-episode cameo), a being that where ever he goes things come to their natural ends -- people die in accidents, prey animal killed by predators, even the death of a language or skill.

Apparently Doom can grant one wish on his birthday and it just so happens that Dong-kyung made her wish on that date. He approaches her and says that he can grant her three months of no pain but in return she must wish for the world to end and so free him from his torment. Although she agrees the rest of the series is her trying to save herself and the world by finding a loophole. Eventually the loophole is that if she doesn't make her wish then her most loved person dies and so she becomes determined to fall in love with Doom, or Kim Sa-ram as she names him to avoid introducing him as Mr Doom.

Shin Do-hyun plays Dong-kyung's best friend and web novelist who has two friends pursuing her (unusual but Doom doesn't have a romantic rival for Dong-kyung so that plot point is moved to the best friend). Jung Ji-so plays the teen-aged god that created Doom. She takes on Humanity's sins so always dies young and this time she has some sort of terminal cancer and spending her last weeks at the hospital Dong-kyung frequents.

It's a nice story with pretty good production since Doom has fantastical powers. Good romance with a happy ending.
