Yesterday's DC Heroes session (for issue #18) didn't turn out too well. The plan was to let everyone else leave and have the core group play an evening game. Then Chris somehow invited himself in and Pick said he could stay and play. But apparently Pick's definition of staying late is different than mine. I was expecting to run a four to five hour game, add an hour for two extra people, but I guess he was expecting something shorter because he had to leave after 3-1/2 hours (it was 22:30 by then). My fault for not asking how long people could stay and for letting them play in the first place. It's heartless and cold but if you can't commit the time then you shouldn't play -- I do run day games too every three or four weeks.

We actually played 2 on 2 basketball last Thursday as Pick joined us. It was Pick and Dave versus Woo and I. Not quite full contact basketball but still a bit rough. I was guarding Pick the whole time and he's quite a load. Goddess, it's really tiring playing that way. Woo and I did win all three games, though the first two were close. It was sort of fun.
I watched the gubernatorial debate from last Wednesday. This one had Bustamante, Camejo, Huffington, McClintock and Schwarzenegger. It's scary just how much I identify with McClintock's views. I keep thinking I'm kind of liberal and enlightened but when you get down to it I'm pretty damned conservative and totalitarian (which are not the same thing). Schwarzenegger was much the same as McClintock but more vague and unwilling to commit.

I'm done with my one month of hosting Saturday games. Now I have a month to recuperate. I did like it but I did spend a lot of money providing lunch for everyone. I guess I'm just so happy that people come over that I want to leave a good impression. Of course the other reason was that it's only a little more expensive than going out to eat (since I tend to work it out so I pay more than my fair share). People joked about how I didn't raise the hosting bar, it's always been that high and nobody has lived up to it until now. Eh, it's not like I hold people to the same standards that I hold myself to.
