Today gaming was at my place. Donald is in New York on vacation. Shannon didn't feel too good but everyone else showed up. Even Dave and RJ showed up because apparently Dave didn't work last night. I bought lots of KFC and now my standard order is $60 even. As usual I ate way too much.

Kooma was in the house. She stayed upstairs all day and came down to eat dinner and clean up when we went out to see a movie. I don't think anybody suspected that someone was upstairs because she's very quiet and there's no television upstairs (there is in my room but she's not going in there).

Very hot day again. I played Diablo II while everyone else gamed. I'm pretty much divorced from the game, though I have an NPC that occasionally pipes up. The guys are organizing some sort of war against the neighboring and much larger realm. It's pretty much Woo's campaign at this point with everyone else helping him run his little kingdom.

RJ is growingup nicely. Not a very loud kid though he does whine a bit when he wants something. I'm not sure if' he's getting to the point of being spoiled. Dave and Julie seem to give in easily but RJ doesn't ask for much so that could be good prior training. Julie was watching a movie while Dave took care of RJ.

Afterwards the usual crowd went out to see Aliens vs Predator. Quite a scary movie and it had good amounts of action. Actually better than I expected. Always very crowded at the theatre but we did get seats in the third row because most people tend to avoid sitting that close to the screen.
Apple introduced it's new iMac G5 this week. Instead of a heavy base ithe a screen on a swivel, it's a stand with the screen/computer on the swivel. Very compact and very cool looking. Of course, a desktop computer is not for me but I'm sure the iMac G5 will be very appealing to a lot of people.

I got rid of the stand that I was using for my PowerBook, to clear up desk space. But then my PowerBook ended up farther away because I use to have the keyboard a bit underneath it. It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I can just put my full-sized keyboard on top of the PowerBook keyboard and that way I can have the screen closer.

A little too close as it turned out -- I started getting eye strain. But now I have it at a comfortable distance again. I was expecting that putting the keyboard on top would mean I'm inadvertantly pressing keys on the actual PowerBook. But that turns out to not happen.

The EyeTV application was updated to version 1.6.  Apparently you can now export programs to several different formats including 3G, AVI, DV Stream, MPEG-4, and QuickTime Movie. I noticed that when you start playing a show it pops up as a big window then zooms down to whatever window size you left it at. Kind of annoying. Also when you skip forward or backwards it stutters a bit. On the positive side, when you stop then start a show it pauses video until the audio syncs up. Audio used to be out of sync for about 15-30 seconds.

Gamesome Mac has been off the air for a couple of months. They're back Monday with a new co-host. We'll see if they're actually back on the air since they've missed a couple of "go live" dates already.
