So I woke up late today. Got to my sister's at 10:30 and left immediately. Strangely, no traffic through San Francisco. Maybe everyone staying away on 9/11. I was pretty much driving 75 all the way, +/- 5 MPH. Got to Christopher's at 11:50. He moved to a new place, in the same complex and behind his old apartment. We got to my parent's by 12:30.

Bad news with the old folks. Apparently Mom took the money from the sale of the old house and put it into a 3-month CD. She did it without consulting with Dad which he's mad about. I guess it's been building up. Mom is just shutting him out and he resents it. I'm not sure how this is going to end. Steph is worried. Personally I don't worry about things I can't do anything about.

Chris and I went to see a movie. First we went to a couple of stores looking for Alias season 3 for Steph. After the movie we went to Best Buy and bought it for $40, apparently on sale but it didn't say that on the display.

So Chris and I say Little Black Book. Not the kind of movie I expected. I was expecting more of a romantic comedy. Instead it's a "watch a relationship go down the drain in a funny way". It is an ok movie but I would have enjoyed it more if I knew the kind of movie it was. As it was there is not much to cheer for with the main characters.

One of the neighbors has an open WiFi station which we can get at about 1 to 2 bars from downstairs. Much nicer than dialing in and much faster too. Mostly I used it to check email and stay up to date at the Steve Jackson Games forums.
Steph had Jersey Girl so we saw that on the big television. It's a nice television but the reception is borderline. Just about everything is a bit blurry. My parents need cable or satellite tv. Anyway, the movie was fairly good. I don't think anybody else was impressed by it but I liked it.

And then I had to listen to all the commentaries and watch the extras. There are two commentary tracks and a good couple of hours of other material and it was like 02:00 before I was done. Very tired by then and of course I got woken up early in the morning.

So my parents are actually getting the yard done. They hired a handyman to put in a patio for about half the yard. Dad wants some kind of pool taking up the other half of the yard. Not sure if that's what Mom wants. Once they have the patio up the kids should get them a proper barbequeue. Dad's old barbequeue is ok but it was little better than an old oil drum.

There are still no blinds up on the windows. Ok, there are some blinds up but not the living areas of the ground floor. Quite bothersome in the morning when the sun comes up and hits me in the face as I'm sleeping on the sofa-bed.

For lunch there was soup and pork chops. For dinner it was this weird meat and egg dish that's good but it looks like this gray goop. To go along with that there was something else but I forget what it was. Steph now only eats brown rice. Something about it taking longer to digest so your body works more and doesn't get as much nutrition from it. I'll stick with my delicious white rice than you very much.
