I mentioned I
got a haircut. I just get my hair cut short. I've been going to Comb
and Scissors in Berkeley since attending school there. Probably more
like after a couiple of years because I'd usually wait until I got home
to get a haircut. Not even that, I wouldn't get a haircut until my mom
dragged me to the hair salon. I just hated the whole experience.
So one day I got fed up and when I was passing the barber shop I went
in and got a haircut. Barber shop are for guys. Hair salons are for
women. Strangely, Comb and Scissors is like three doors from a hair
salon. It looks like an old place, in the basement of a building. I
think the sign says since 1950 or some such year that seems long ago to
me.
It's the same Vietnamese guy doing the haircuts, at least on Saturday.
I used to see an older barber occasionally, doing haircuts for the
oldsters. But I haven't seen the gent the last few years. The haircut
is more or less the same every time. I just want it short so my hair
stays out of the way. Then I way overpay as some form of revenge
against mom.
Anyways, when I get my hair cut short it gets poofie after a shower.
And it's quite bad if I sleep with wet hair. I guess it's too light and
doesn't want to stay down. I could use some sort of gel like my brother
does. But I've never made any concessions to my looks so I'm not going
to do that. Just seems a bit too vain for me.
Some day I should get a buzz cut or shave off my hair and see what
happens. I suspect I would look awfully silly. But it means that I
wouldn't have to go get a haircut for a while. It always seems to take
me a couple of months after I've noticed that my hair is long to get to
the barber shop. It's sort of inconvenient to get there and it has to
be done Saturday morning. So it's one of those "the stars must be
right" things.

Gamesome Mac
was not too good tonight. David reviewed the Absolutist site, which has
lots of small games that you can buy cheap in bulk. Sean reviewed a
couple of game mice, mice designed for game playing or at least power
users. The president of Macsoft was the guest and he talked a bit about
Close Combat and Railroad Tycoon 3 and a couple of other games. But it
was a short interview, about 25 minutes I guess.
After that I watched the rest of the Minnesota-Philadelphia game.
Although Minnesota totally moved the ball up and down the field, they
kept turning it over and making stupid red zone penalties and they
lost. That leaves the results for Week 2 at 1-3 bringing my total to
3-6. Not an auspicious start to say the least. Oh well.
For week 3 these are my predictions:
1. Eagles at Lions: I know I'm asking or it by betting against the
Eagles. But I must still do it. Go Lions!
2. 49ers at Seahawks: Another team that the 49ers can beat.
3. Buccaneers at Raiders: Even though Tampa Bay is 0-2 the Raiders
never seem to inspire confidence in me. Buccaneers to win.
4. Dallas at Washington: Bill Pacels vs Joe Gibbs. This is going to be
a cool game. I'll give the edge to Washington because they're at home.
