So I went to work today and as I was walking out of the parking lot I suddenly remembered that I'd forgotten my power supply. Again. That's like the third time in two weeks. I went home and worked from there and got a few things done. Still got to bear down and get cracking harder tomorrow.

I gave in and subscribed to Pyramid, Steve Jackson Games' online magazine. I still have a thing against non-printed media but progress moves on whether I want it or not. In any case, I don't like the subscription model where you only have access while subscribed. It just feels like i'm renting content.

So I'm downloading all of the weekly issues. It'll take me a while and the links won't be anywhere near as complete. But all the images are there and the site uses mostly relative links so it's working out ok. And of course I won't access to the search engine while offline, but that's a liveable compromise.

Eventually I'll subscribe to their Traveller magazine. Then it's off to the Hero site for Digital Hero and the PDF products. I don't know. Maybe that's not such a great idea. But I keep thinking that I have to keep up with the times and there is lots of content that will only be available electronically because certain subjects don't sell.

After that maybe BattleCorps, the BattleTech online fiction site. It's an official site using professional authors. Just no print products. The pricing is a bit steep, though I guess professional writers cost a lot. I guess I'll wait since I have other things to buy. Meanwhile there will be more content for when I do decide to join.
Tonight was the Gilmore Girls season premiere. Looks like the Lorelai-Luke romance is going to actually be developed. I really that relationship keeps moving forward. I get annoyed that major characters never go all the way and get married. Then again, when it happens the show is usually never the same. The pursuit is what is interesting. Marriage is rarely done in an interesting way, unless the couple starts out married from the get-go.

Meanwhile the Rory-Dean romance is going to be a train wreck. I really feel bad for Rory and Dean but they brought this on themselves. He's married. That's just something you can't ignore. Anyways Rory had her chance with Dean and she let him go. It's too bad that she later realizes he may have been The One. This storyline is uncomfortable but at least different. Unrequited love would have been much more romantic but maybe not as interesting.

And then there's the grandparents separating. I like them and all, but they're supporting characters. They shouldn't be getting independent screen time. The show is about a mother and daughter. Stay on them. If you're cutting away it's because it's necessary for the major plots and you do it as briefly as possible. We already knew they were having problems, we didn't need the whole basement scene. And by we I mean I.

The Lorelai-Luke thing feels like is going to be great. A really satisfying storyline. This is why you develop the characters for a couple of years before things start heating up. There's a lot of pent up, almost unacknowledged yearning. The previous relationships -- with the teacher, with Rory's dad, and with the grandfather's partner -- all seemed hurried, because they were.
