Today I got more sleep. The guys were playing midnight basketball (actually 01:00 basketball) when I went to bed. Christopher woke me up with his snoring sometime after 03:00. Fulton was watching Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It was hot, I still couldn't get the window open. But after 10 minutes I went back to sleep. Woke up at 08:30 and Donald was already here.

The guys played Nuclear War. Breakfast was pancakes. Lunch was cold cuts and sandwiches and yesterday's spaghetti. In the afternoon Rowe started a Boot Hill game that ran until the dinner break at 19:00. Meanwhile I watched Aliens (the extended version), Dude Where's My Car?, and Grosse Point Blank.

I took a shower after Aliens, around noon. He has one of those showers with separate hot and cold faucet controls. The shower faucet is a bit low and it requires a fair amount of water to get going. With sleep, a shower and clean underwear it felt good.

For dinner we walked over to the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant, which is I guess about half a mile away walking along dirt roads. There was a wait and I played a Dig Dug clone where I died quickly. Then I played a game of Ms Pacman and I did very well for me, scoring 52k points and getting to level 7.

Apparently there was a big group ahead of us that was taking all the tables so the buxom young hostess was kind enough to set up a couple of tables next to the pool tables. I had the porterhouse steak with fries. The steak was pretty good, maybe because it was salty. We talked a bit of politics, generally not a good idea with this group since we have both sides of the political spectrum. It's one of those topics we usually leave well enough alone.

Walked home. The guys have gone back to their Boot Hill game while I finished watching Grosse Point Blank. For once the television is off and it's relatively quiet. Riley occasionally wakes up screaming. I think he's been running a fever this whole weekend. When he's on drugs he's ok, otherwise he is quite unhappy. Unfortunate for him.

DaveCon has been good so far, especially now that I've gotten some sleep (I did take a half hour nap in the afternoon). Dave spent a lot of time setting up the events, organizing things and getting food and keeping up the illusion of a convention. Rather surprising. I mean there are times when he goes out of his way to get something done, and there are other times when things don't work out.

I haven't been participating but this is not a weekend where I wanted to do much. Have gotten some reading done, have at least gotten a little bit of work done. And it's nice hanging out with my friends, listening to them play while I get things done. I don't feel like I'm foolishly wasting my time yet I get that quota of human contact.
