Yesterday I made a small foray and started listening to Inside Mac Radio which is a 40 minute to 2 hour Internet radio show. Compared to Mac Radio, it is much more professional. They have commercials every 5 to 10 minutes. Their host talks a mile a minute and talks well but he's a bit annoying.

I listened to five episodes in total, mostly as I was driving to Berkeley for the ebMUG meeting. It's not surprising because the Macintosh platform is still very strong in graphics, but 90% of the guests and the show focuses on graphics stuff -- graphic programs, publishing programs, graphics tradeshows, graphics magazines. I think they had a guy from Micromat on. And lots of iPod stuff too.

In the end it just wasn't that interesting. A lot of the guests were just there to promote stuff for the 20 minutes they're on. I realize that the Gamesome Mac is rather amateurish but the people there love games and love to talk about games or anything gaming related and at least that's interesting to me. Inside Mac Radio has people who I'm sure love what they do and love to talk about it but I don't find it that interesting.

I drove up to North Berkeley to visit the Half Price Books on Solano. Two stories and bigger than the old place, though the amount of books is about the same -- there's just more aisle space. Alas, a very small selection of Star Trek books. They did have some interesting Star Trek hardcover and large format books but they were kind of pricey.
I parked at Andronicos because parking is tight. So when I came back I bought a sandwich at the deli. $6 for a not huge sandwich. But it had lots of meat. To me it's a bit strange to put like four different kinds of meat in a sandwich because the flavors all blend together. I suppose that's the point but it seems like a waste to me.

Today we took the CDC guys out to lunch (actually they ended up paying the sneaky bastards). We went to Little Schezuan and ate in the private room so it was quiet. Ordered the family meal for 6 people, plus three vegeterian dishes. We had 11 people and it was way too much food. Overall though I found it not too remarkable because the dishes weren't my favorites.

So Keven Scott and I have been sitting in our 4-cube section with the two cubes behind us empty because Stanley and Girish left our group. Finally a bunch of people moved into our floor and took all the empty spaces so now we have a couple of strangers behind us. One guy has a poster of the Macintosh hammer-throwing blond runner wearing an iPod. Behind me sits a woman who I didn't get a good look at, though she sounds cute. Not even too sure what her nationality is. All I know is she has dark hair, is slim and a bit short.

Stephanie has a coupon from Amazon, 25% off on orders of $600+. I went through my list of books and I'm going to buy any books that would be cheaper from Amazon than from one of the used books sellers, also on Amazon. It wasn't a huge amount of books but still like $125 or so. Meanwhile the other books that I could get cheaply I bought. $20 worth of books with $43 in shipping. Amazon just charges a whole lot for book shipping.
