Uptown Girls is a not very interesting movie about an immature young 23-year old woman who learns to grow up when she becomes the nannie of a much-too-serious eight year old girl.

Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) inherited a lot of money from her rock-and-roll dad who died in a plane crash with mom. She parties a whole with her friends Ingrid (Marley Shelton) and Huey (Donald Faison). Falls in and out of love amazingly quickly, such as with her latest object of attraction the up-and-coming musician Neal (Jesse Spencer).

Molly's life is turned upside down when her accountant takes off with all her money. Now she needs to get a job and Huey comes through, hooking her up as a nanny for Ray (Dakota Fanning). Ray is amazingly serious and adult for a little kid. This is because her dad is in a coma and mom ignores her. After a lot of false starts Molly and Ray become friends and learn to be more like each other.

I didn't like this movie. The character didn't click with me. Dakota Fanning is just creepy to me. There's just something wrong about Brittany Murphy. It's a story with people I didn't care about and that made the whole movie boring. Really the best part of the package is the Chantal Kreviazuk's music video.
