MWII BattleMech Combat
Firing Weapons
Twice in a Turn
- 'Mech units may fire almost any weapon twice in a
turn. Vehicles and infantry mey not fire twice in a turn.
- Most weapons have a penalty to hit on both shots when
double firing. So a weapon with a +2 penalty if fired once has no
penalty to the shot, if fired twice it has a +2 penalty on both shots.
- Weapons fired twice build up twice the heat, use up
twice the ammunition.
- Weapons with no penalty for double fire are: AC/2 and
Machine Gun.
- Weapons with a +2 penalty on both shots of a double
fire are: Flamer, Small Laser, Medium Laser, AC/5, AC/10, and all SRMs.
- Weapons with a +4 penalty on both shots of a double
fire are: AC/20, Large Laser, and all LRMs.
- Weapons that can't double fire are: PPC.
- Physical attacks have a +4 penalty for any two
physical attacks declared in a turn. So punch/punch or punch/kick both
have +4 penalties on both shots.
- Note that the penalties correspond to Solaris dueling
weapon delays. A weapon delay of 0 is no penalty, delay of 1 is a +2
penalty, delay of 2 is a +4 penalty, delay of 3 is can't double fire.

Special Vehicle and Infantry Rules
- Vehicles and infantry may not fire twice in a turn.
Specifically, they may not declare two fire actions. They may not
declare any fire actions if they fired earlier in the turn with an
Opportunity Action.
- Getting in or out of an infantry carrier requires a
Simple Action from both the carrier vehicle and the infantry unit. The
carrier vehicle must declare before the infantry unit.
- Units shooting at immobilized vehicles (those with a
movement of 0) have the -4 to hit bonus for firing on a stationary
target.
Aimed Shots
- Units can do aimed shots with a +4 to hit to hit a
specific area of a 'Mech (one of the location tables -- punch, kick,
left, right, front).
- Units can aim at a specific external feature with a
+4 to hit penalty. If the location roll hits the location that the
feature is in then the feature is destroyed in addition to the regulare
damage. Units can aim for weapon mounts, heat sinks, jump jets and
other external features. Units cannot aim for internal feaures such as
engine, gyro, sensor, ammunition.
- The unit must have LOS to target area (no indirect
fire). So you can't aim at a jump jet from the front or most weapons
from the back.
