No Response to Peace Proposal

Tharkad, District of Donegal, Lyran Commonwealth

There has been no response from any of the other Successor Lords to the Peace Proposal issued last month by Archon Katrina Steiner. With no indication of the other rulers' responses, the mood of people throughout the Commonwealth is upbeat.

"Getting no immediate response is a good sign I think," said Amy Lotz of Donegal. "It means they're actually thinking about the proposal seriously."

"It is still too soon to expect an answer from the other Houses," expressed Rita Schwartz of the Commonwealth Public Relations Office, "we will probably get their replies in a month or two. Until then we hope that they consider the Peace Proposal with open minds."

Wolf's Dragoons Arrive at Caledonia

Caledonia, Rahneshire, Lyran Commonwealth

The Wolf Dragoons arrived at Caledonia on their way to the Kuritan border. The Dragoons, arguably the best mercenary unit in the Inner Sphere, signed a long-term contract last month with House Steiner. Archon Katrina Steiner was impressed with last year's assault of the Hesperus Battlemech Factories.

"Any unit that can single-handedly fight their way to the gates of the factories is obviously very good," commented the Archon. "Hiring them away from House Marik is preferable to having to fight them again."

"The Dragoons probably won't see any major action for the rest of the year," commented analyst Carolyn Thompson of Dobless Inc. "They took heavy losses in the 13th Battle for Hesperus and it'll take months for them to refill their ranks."

Grey Turtles First in the Amateur League

Solaris, Rahneshire, Lyran Commonwealth

The Grey Turtles started the second half of the Amateur League season in first place with 57 points. The Turtles are composed of former members of the DCMS - all were disgraced and forced to leave the Combine. With their distinctive grey and white heavy mechs, the Turtles have won seven straight matches and are the favorites to win the AL crown.

This Date in History

In 2341 Michael Cameron, Director General of the Terran Hegemony, officially recognized the Lyran Commonwealth; making it the second youngest Successor State. The Commonwealth was and is still composed of three states: the Tamar Pact, the Federation of Skye, and the Protectorate of Donegal. Each state was ruled by a mercantile family: respectively the Tamars, the McQuistons, and the Marsdens. It was not until 2408 when the first Steiner, Katherine, assumed the Archonship of the Commonwealth.
