Kurita and Marik Scoff at Peace Proposal

Both the Draconis Combine and the Free Worlds League have denounced Archon Katrina Steiner's Peace Proposal of last January. In separate statements, each government accused the Archon of trying to use the Peace Proposal to buy time to rebuild the Commonwealth forces.

"Why should we stop our offensive when we're winning?" asked a spokesperson in the Draconis Combine Consulate. "You can only propose peace from a position of strength."

The spokesperson from the Free Worlds Consulate was more diplomatic, "Our nation will suspend our next planned offensive so that the Captain- General can fully examine the ramifications of the Proposal. But we will continue fighting in contested systems."

Protests Sweep Through Skye

Skye, Isle of Skye, Lyran Commonwealth

Protesters marched through the cities of Skye, capital of the Isle of Skye. The protesters were marching against the Archon's Peace Proposal.

"We can't give up to the Dracs," said a random protester.

"The Archon is abandoning our brothers on Tamar." said another protester.

Margaret Aten, Duchess of Skye, apologized to the Archon. "The people of Skye can be reactionary at times," she said. "I'm certain that they will support the Peace Proposal if they think through the ramifications."

NAIS Develops New Water Purification Process

New Avalon, Crucis March, Federated Suns

Scientists at the New Avalon Institute of Science announced a new water purification process. This process is based on filtrum, a sand-like substance that strains impurities from water.

"With filtrum our new process is two to three times more effective than current methods," said Deflin Saunders, Dean of the College of Chemistry at the NAIS. "It lasts longer, it's lighter, and uses less space."

"Keep in mind that the process is imperfect," cautioned Elton Mosh of the Federated Suns Public Relations Office. "They can only produce small quantities of filtrum. The NAIS is working on refining the process until it is cheap enough for all worlds to use."

Spotlight On: Solaris City, Solaris

Founded in 2340. Solaris City is now the center of the Solaris game circuit. The city is divided into six sections.

The International Area is where the city government resides. It also the most "touristy" of the sections, with lots of hotels, parks, museums, theatres, et al.

The Black Hills is the Davion section. Liaolists live in Cathay. Kobe is the Kurita sector. Leaguers live in Montenegro and the Lyrans inhabit Silesia.
