Capellan Offensives Faltering

Larsha, Sian Commonality, Capellan Confederation

The Capellan offensives have for the most part bogged down on the contested worlds of Larsha, Ward, and Hurik. Concordat forces have retreated offworld from Rollis. Fighting has been heavy on all worlds with the Capellan forces getting the worst of it by most accounts.

Protector Thomas Calderon has stated that the Taurian Concordat will hold on to these worlds as long as possible. "The losses that the Capellans are taking will prevent them from taking any major actions against our nation," he said to reporters. "This operation demonstrates to the Inner Sphere our preparedness and willingness to defend our people and homes."

ISF Agent Arrested on New Syrtis

New Syrtis, Capellan March, Federated Suns

Dean Richards, section head of the public relations office in New Syrtis, was arrested by MIIO agents ten days ago. Mr. Richards has been accused of providing classified information to the Draconis Combine government. There is some evidence that Mr. Richards may be an deep cover agent of the ISF -- the intelligence agency of the Draconis Combine.

"I never suspected," said an anonymous coworker. "He was always quiet and polite. I can't believe he's a traitor."

"Yes he was quiet. But he was too quiet. Creepy like," said a local waitress where he frequently dined. "He was a good tipper though."

Officials at the MIIO refused to give any information, citing national security concerns.

Takashi Kurita Escapes Death

Luthien, Pesht Military District, Draconis Combine

Coordinator Takashi Kurita narrowly escaped death when his personal dropship lost control and crashed on reentry. Witnesses report that there was an explosion which destroyed one of the dropship's thrusters. The dropship then started to spin out of control and crashed about a minute later one mile from the Luthien spaceport.

Coordinator Kurita apparently was testing his 'mech when the explosion occurred. He was able to walk his 'mech out of a dropchute and used the 'mech's jump jets to cushion his landing. The Coordinator's 'mech was badly damaged in the landing but Coordinator Kurita escaped with minor injuries. There were no other survivors.

Unit History:

Raised from a collection of local defense battalions from Atreus Prime and New Vallis, the Concordat Jaegers have served almost exclusively along the Taurian-Capellan border. Like the Concordat Commandos, they have seen considerable action against the Capellans in the last century, and, like the Commandos, have generally come out the better for it. The Jaegers have the distinction of being the only "new" regiment of the Taurian Concordat ever to invade Capellan soil, for they carried out the successful raid against the supply center on Larsha in 2998.
