Today, the first Cataphract Heavy Battlemech prototypes came off the assembly line of Earthwerks production facilities on Tikonov. The 70 ton 'Mech is designed from parts easily made in the resource poor Confederation. Earthwerks has taken an impressive four years from initial designs to build these prototypes. Extensive testing of the new 'Mechs is due to begin next week.

After a month of furious fighting, a lull has enveloped the opposing forces. The Davion defenders hold onto a thin stretch of land on the western shores of the Eire continent of Galtor III while the Kuritan attackers hold the rest of the continent. An exception is the capital of New Derry on the eastern coast, which is held by a elements of the Dahar Draconis March Militia supplemented by Galtorian militia.

The strong Davion and Kurita teams tied a meaningless qualifying match as both teams advanced to the elimination rounds of the Solaris Successor States Tournament. Shorthanded, the Combine team skillfully evaded the larger Federated Suns team and preserved their small force.

Also advancing are the Steiner and Liao teams, both of which ended up going 1-1-1. The Davion team will face the Steiner team while the Kurita team will face the Liao team. At this stage the losing teams will be eliminated from the competition.

St. Ives' Armored Cavalry Conduct Maneuvers

The eight regiments of the St. Ives' Armored Cavalry started extensive wargame maneuvers near the Federated Suns border. Duchess Candace Liao proclaimed that the St. Ives defenders need to sharpen their martial skills. They will be put to the test in these extravagant games, which the Duchess is funding from her personal fortune. Davion forces across the border have been put on a higher readiness level.
