The last dropship departed the planet of Winter, taking
the last of its inhabitants towards the Commonwealth interior.
This planet in the edge of Commonwealth space had been an
important source of various heavy metals needed by Lyran
industries. Unfortunately, the planet's Ice Age is in full
progress now, and Commonwealth technology has been unable
to cope. The government hopes that habitation of the planet
will be possible once the needed technologies are redeveloped.

Avalon in search of the elusive Polar Penguins. The cute 4 inch
stuffed toys, made by Stipler Stuffed Solutions, have become
the most popular summer craze in over a decade. 3S factories
haven't been able to keep up with demand, and the company has
resorted to using armed guards to protect the trucks that are
used to ship the little devils.

In a joint statement, the Taurian Concordat and the
Magistracy
of Canopus announced the signing of a mutual defense treaty between
the two Periphery States. Provisions of the Treaty include an
exchange of military observers as well as joint maneuvers to
develop better cooperation among the two militaries. With this
major treaty signed, both powers will have more forces to use
against the rising tide of piracy in the Periphery.
Virus Brings Down Solaris Network

A network-borne virus brought down the Solaris Virtual
Simulation Network, which had been holding the Mech Simulator
Championships. The virus manifested itself by making all of
the Mech images into large silver-colored balls with spikes
sticking out all over. The Mech Simulator Championships have
been postponed until the virus can be excised from the SVSN.
