Verthandi Gains Independence

Verthandi (-55.29, 399.55)
Kirchbach Prefecture
Rasalhague Military District
Draconis Combine

After a week of intense talks as two fleets eyed each other wearily around the world of Verthandi, the Lyran and Draconis regional governments arranged for Verthandi to become an indepen- dent world of the Combine. This unusual -- and extremely rare -- arrangement allows the people of Verthandi to have an autonomous government which, in almost all respects, is its own sovereign nation within the Combine. The Verthandians will have to provide for their own needs and they will be free to negotiate with other governments. The Verthandi government will pay the Combine for permission to travel through Kuritan space in order to trade goods.

Farmers Sue St. Ives Armored Cavalry

St. Ives (112.40, -217.51)
St. Ives Commonality
Capellan Confederation

The Association of St. Ives Farmers (ASIF) are suing the St. Ives Armored Cavalry. At issue is the heavy emplacement of mines that the Cavalry deployed throughout the countryside whilst they were conducting wargames almost a year ago. The farmers claim to have lost some 150 Million C-bills due to dead and frightened livestock. The association recently suffered an unfortunate and untimely setback when the ASIF president was blown apart while showing off a mine infested field to a group of reporters.
