The Blowfish - 3020.11 - #0011 - Butte Hold

Summary

While the group rests from the last battle, a dropship lands some distance away. A recon lance is sent to investigate. When it gets back the senior officers confer. They decide to launch a final assault on the city with the objective of retrieving a crystal that the pirates found. Only house troops and miscellaneous mercenary forces will participate. The fight is furious and desperate as the attackers have to finish before the strangers arrive. Seven of seven mechs are disabled as well as two of four vehicles. The mission is a success and the survivors flee back to the dropship as the strange mechs approach. The dropships take off and head for the jumpship and then back to the Combine.

Summary

Wrigley, Roy, Selena, and Izzy go to a formal party in honor of the expeditionary froce they were a part of. Party is hosted by Duke Hassid Ricol. Maya goes with Izzy. Roy takes two courtiers. Wrigley arrives late.

Wrigley goes after the most beautiful girl he can find, Lady Nyssa Duvonovich. He dances with her and walks the palace gardens. Roy and Izzy get involved in a poker game. Izzy's wallet is pinched. Roy losses some money at the game. Selena meets a potential employer for the unit. She later meets the Duke who congratulates her and the unit.

Roy gets drunk and goes back to his room with his courtiers. Wrigley strikes out with Nyssa and joins Roy. The Duke walks Selena to her room. On their way an assassin disguised as a servant pulls out a gun. Selena swiftly tackles him as they are both shot by the guards. Selena is taken to the infirmary. Izzy meets a Union dropship captain looking for cargo. He suggests that maybe the captain would like to join the unit.

Captain Delios Nihan drops by a couple of days later and joins the group by a vote of 2 to 1. Wrigley wanted the dropship's name changed. Maya joins the unit. The group gets an offer to protect a company's factory from a rival company's raiders.
