Summary
Selena, Wrigley, Izzy, Roy, and Mr O decide to try to get a Hunchback
for
Maya's wedding present. They investigate the Spiky Gang, which attacked
Selena and Maya last month. Some investigative work uncovers the gang's
next
target. Izzy is almost caught by some Spikies but gets away with some
wounds.
The five decide to set a trap. Selena, Wrigley, and Izzy will pretend
to be
out on maneuvers while the other two hide. When the Spikies attack
they'll
find the tables turned on them, or so it's hoped. This is a
non-Blowfish
mission.
The Spikies attack with two medium lances of their elite Defender
company.
Their Punch lance composed of an Archer, a Dervish, a Hunchback, and a
Phoenix Hawk come in behind a hill. Their Harasser lance which includes
a
Wolverine, two Phoenix Hawks, and a Wasp attacks from the other side
over
open ground.
Izzy immediately takes heavy damage as both lances concentrate on him.
The
two heavy 'Mechs wait almost half a minute before committing to the
battle.
By then Izzy has been forced to flee and Wrigley has taken extensive
damage.
The Spikies concentrate on Mr O and do a lot of damage but barely
penetrate
the Battlemaster's armor. Meanwhile the Harasser lance is demolished
with only
one Phoenix Hawk getting away. The Hunchback closes in and hits twice
but a
lucky shot from Selena destroys the Hunchback's AC/20. Wrigley takes an
engine
hit.
The Hunchback starts retreating while the rest of his lance covers him.
The
'fish are in pursuit. Mr O and Wrigley hangs out of LRM range while
Selena and
Roy bravely charge in. Just before the Hunchback reaches its lines Roy
fires
an alpha volley which hits and detonates the AC/20 ammunition. Wrigley
has also
fired an alpha volley which overheats his 'Mech and detonates the
internal
LRM10 ammunition. Both 'Mechs are destroyed.
Selena asks the Spikies to surrender. They reply that they'll leave if
Selena
declares that the Spikies were the superior force that day. She agrees
and the
Spikies leave, having once again defended their honor.
Wrigley decides to use the Wolverine for his new 'Mech.
Afterwards the five decide to vote to give Selena the Blowfish
Hunchback.
Unfortunately, the five of them only have about 210 Million votes
including
Wrigley's dad's proxy. Wrigley produces a proxy for Clyde's votes and
the
motion passes.
Izzy and Maya get married.
