555/2/66. A hard day it has been for all of us. I'm quite surprised that we all survived, more or less. It started out well enough, as the final assault easily swept aside the Blue defenders. Not very long at all before the outer walls fell and our assault party was commited to storming the main keep. We all had different reasons for being there: Krelga wanted the most kills, Tok just wanted to impress people, Nakaro had in mind to kill Lord Blue, Tev sniffed around for plump babies, and Timroth looked around for an indoor pool. As for myself, I wanted a replacement dresser for the one that was left behind back in Red Castle.

The defenders contested the very first room. Luckily, there were more of us than of them so I could hang back safely. Krelga and the other big Gabter soon got into a killing contest. They screamed out their kills and soon the room echoed with cries of "One", "Two" and "Three" from each rabbit. As the Blue defenders fell back we followed in to the next room. Now more Blues reinforced the defenders and suddenly we were in a real fight. I found myself involved in the fighting, pummeling my foe with my da's poleaxe.

Our party was starting to show wear and tear, but we were winning and pushing forward and we soon found ourselves in the antechamber of the main throne room. That's when our luck started turning for the worse. Only the elite of the Blue forces were left to fight; warriors who clearly outclassed out one for one. Still we charged recklessly. I myself was lucky to take down my opponent while only taking a deep cut in the arm. But the dog was struck down, as were Timroth and Nakaro. Of our remaining three (there were more people in the assault party, but I'm only concerning myself with my albatross of a group), Tok was hobbled in one leg while Krelga was a mass of cuts and bruises, barely able to stand. I was still relatively unscathed (truly, cowardice is a lifesaver).
Lord Red and his bodyguards (including the big Gabter) rushed into the throne room while we three took a brief respite. Tok wanted to wait a bit before joining, since we were all wounded. Krelga was all for going in now, though since I was applying first aid to her she had to wait. I myself would have been quite happy to stop here and call it a day. I was more worried for Krelga, who was sure to die if she ventured into the throne room. So when Krelga opened the massive door to enter the throne room, I Disrupted her and knocked her unconscious. "Must have been a stray chaos bolt," observed Tok as he and I stepped inside.

Inside was a scene straight out of Romgurk's Domain, a Chaos Pit shone the room in an eerie glow as tentacles snapped out of the pit and attacked. Lord Blue and Lord Red fought in the center of the room, while their followers battled throughout the room. Tok and I were struck by a couple of Chaos bolts, though not hard enough to kill either of us. Tok moved forward and engaged a Blue defender. I cursed Tok and followed him into battle.

But as I reached the fight, the Blue warrior killed Tok, who had to call on Divine Intervention which merely left him unconscious. Now it was just him and me, and I was definitely outclassed. My every attack was blocked, though miraculously I blocked his attacks also. And then he slipped through my defences and took my head off. Divine Intervention. Apparently, only Dak Alaran was nearby and he has quite a sense of humor. Sucking most of my Power away, Dak Alaran deposited me hale and hearty outside the keep, alongside our two Janers and my dresser. That was the battle for me.

555/2/71. I did mention that we won, right? A week of celebration followed. In gratitude we could ask for almost anything. Seeing how Tev would never be the healer we needed him to be, I learned Heal/6, enough to even set broken bones. Even though I can't cast it currently due to my lack of Power, I can use our magic crystal so it's not that bad.

Finally we are done here and can head upstream. Although this was a fine sidetrack from our quest, I am eager to resume that task. We have a long way to go and the sooner we complete the quest, the sooner will we rid of the Chaos corrupting my people. Gosh, I miss Tenenbrea.
