The Colony on Valer IV has detected strange energy emissions coming
from Valer VI, an inert gas giant. We have agreed to investigate this
situation and possibly gain new insight to the lives of these large
planets.
This is also an opportunity to give the cadets a chance to run a
routine mission on their own. I have to write up my recommendations
soon and I believe that this group of cadets will make fine Starfleet
officers.
Captain's Log (After)
It appears that Valer VI held a sentient gaseuous machine, with its
sole mission to record various lifeforms. Although it was not
malevolent, in the end we had to destroy it before it tried to absorb
the inhabitants of Valer IV. Cadet Serin performed well commanding the
mission. He exhausted all peaceful alternatives before deciding to
terminate the cloud.
