Cadet's Log (Before)

I can't believe that I was just sitting at the Helm manning a real-live Starship! I've dreamed of the moment since I was a wee little one with the rest of my littermates. I'm still shocked that Commander Papaub didn't countermand Cadet Ray's course plot. Sure Kat's a daredevil, but skirting the very edge of Collapsar 49 just to prove that we could beat the Kessel Run record is a bit too extreme for me.
A little about our ship. The USS Discovery is a Nebula-class Cruiser. Not one of the bigger ships in Starfleet, but certainly one capable of doing any mission asked of her and her crew. Captain Potrikos took command only a couple of months before we came on board. If I had to describe her after a few brief meetings, I'd say that she is what I'd call "professionally diplomatic."

First Office Papaub can be rather loud and bearish, quite intimidating when he's dressing down a cadet. I'm sure that's just his way, but Tellarites are a bit antagonistic as a species. Lieutenant Dan Cheung is the head of my department, at least until I'm rotated out. He's a gifted Helmsman and I hope I can learn some things from him.

Cadet's Log (After)

Well, whatayaknow? We broke up some sort of spy ring operating out of the Balin system. It's been quite a day, with mysterious signals, a starship battle, and Romulan intrigue. Just another day in Starfleet.

I hear that Cadet Kalhoun was given command of this little mission. Captain Potrikos must not have looked at John's academy record. I'm surprised that Cadet Serin wasn't given this mission, he graduated almost top of the class.

I have to go now and report for KP. Doi! Just because I got lost and ended up in the transporter room doesn't mean I'm the one who fixed the transporters without authorization. I'm a Medtech, not a Transporter Chief! Sheesh, if I ever find out who did this...
