Recap

Another skewed rendition of my Star Trek game. This mission was meant to be long, but I didn't think it would be as long as it turned out to be. In retrospect, I once again underestimated the time it takes to run a large- scale battle, something I should have learned from BattleTech. Still, I think it was fun and I almost killed all the characters.

Present were Krystal (leading), Clancy, Venor, Jon, Beltana and Gonar. First off, most of the sector's ships had been relocated to the Romulan border to help the Enterprise interdict the Romulans and prevent them from interfering in the Klingon Civil War. Being one of the few ships left, The USS Discovery was given the task of transporting ("medical supplies!" quipped several players, as that seems to be a common use for a starship) some Professor to Axanar.

A little background. Axanar, in the LUG Star Trek Universe, was a planet of a warlike people. When first contacted by the Federation, they saw this huge powerful empire they wanted to be part of. So they conquered some nearby systems which would be used as gifts, the price of admission into the Federation. Naturally, the Federation was aghast and demanded that the Axanarians free those planets. Offended, the Axanarians started a war with the Federation and if not for Garth of Izar, the Axanarians might have won.

So that's how LUG portrays Axanar, which was given a brief mention in one TOS episode. But since I was running a FASATrek module, I used FASA's version of Axanar. Axanar was a planet deep in Federation territory. A disastrous first contact resulted in a quarantine placed on the planet and it's warlike but primitive people. Years later a Klingon scout ship blundered on Axanar and the crew were proclaimed gods.
