First thing is
to receive the Ligonian ambassadors: Yareena and her two top husbands
Hagon and Lutan. Lutan was the bad guy in the Next Generation episode
and still has a scar, which Eric immediately recognized and knowing the
old episode he had a good guess at what Lutan was up to. So he kept a
close eye on Lutan and tried to up the Starbase's security
(negotiations were done on a Starbase orbiting Styrus IV).
Naturally, I couldn't let Jon derail the adventure. So he couldn't
convince the Starbase commander to up security, and without Venor there
his options were mercifully limited. But he and Gonar stayed up at
night patrolling the corriders, and later on they split up with Gonar
"guarding" the Captain while he guarded Krystal (a good guess on his
part).
Lutan wanted Krystal (or any medical officer) to help him finish an
antidote for the disease ravaging Styrus IV. He visited Krystal (Jon
hid in the closet) and talked to her. But Krystal, although quite open
to the idea, didn't think that going behind Hagon and Yareena's back
was going to be kosher. Lutan left disappointed. Jon went to visit
Clancy (who had been kept in the dark until now) to get his help --
that's when a couple of Ligonian guards broke into Krystal's room and
kidnapped her.
The Starbase was in an uproar. Someone had kidnapped Yareena and Hagon
was out for blood. Lutan was there organizing the Ligonian guards,
Gonar and the Captain arrived a bit disheveled. While Clancy took Hagon
aside to talk to him, Jon confronted Lutan. Knowing he had nothing to
lose, Lutan tried to kill Jon with a poisoned mace (and finally, after
complaining that he never got to use his Excellent Metabolism
advantage, Jon got to use it to avoid death). Jon went down, a fight
broke out, and Gonar tackled Lutan.

Hagon wanted
to kill Lutan then and there, but Clancy pleaded for his life. After
that it was simple matter to locate Yareena using the sensors and to
track Krystal to the lab on Styrus IV where she had been transported
to. But at least Krystal was able to find a cure for the disease. And
so another mission that turns out for the best, or a close facsimile
thereof.
This time I think I did a pretty good job keeping the plot moving in
the face of potential disaster. I deflected Jon's attempts without
totally stopping them and thereby looking too heavy-handed. Eric
actually a pretty good job, trying not to cheat too much -- good thing
he was sorrounded by the "good" characters.
