Recap

"Sculptor of the Mind" is one of the few non-Dave Biggins adventures on TrekRPG.net. Based on the TOS episode "Dagger of the Mind", the basic plot is that a Romulan team has taken over a Federation Penal Colony near the Neutral Zone, in order to conduct mind control experiments on human subjects. Some of the prisoners managed to escape and send out a distress signal, which the Discovery picks up.

This episode is rather long and intricate, with tight timing for lots of players. There's supposed to be one character on the ship commanding, with the away team split up into two groups and all three interacting with the story. The problem is this is summer and not that many people show up. Two weeks ago there were five players but not enough time to run this episode. This week I had lots of time but only three players and only four players expected next week. That and I've plotted this season out so I can't really replace one adventure with another. So eventually I resigned myself to running this episode and not getting the full effect.

Present were Clancy (Shannon), Krystal (Donald) and Venor (Pick). This season the skill tests have been changed into four skill rolls plus some light roleplaying. The four skill rolls are one point each (and Clancy got three of the points) and the roleplaying deals with each character's department. Clancy is slowly building team spirit with a combination guest lectures and fun activities. Krystal is having problems with her group, with one complaint that she is mis-using her mind powers. Nothing for Venor this week.
