As Krystal returned to the Academy and started walking back to Danger Base. She started talking to herself: "That's one problem down. But I still need to get a ticket for Moltross' lecture. Who do I have to kill to get one little ticket for the lecture?"

"Pardon me miss," said a voice from behind her. Krys turned around and saw another cadet. Tall, blonde, with a winning smile that reminded her of John Kalhoun. "I couldn't help but overhear you say that you were looking for a ticket to the lecture. It just so happens that I have an extra ticket, and I'd be happy to let you have it."

"Wow, I don't know what to say," said Krys in wonderment.

"Say that you will indulge my gentlemanly gesture by going out on a date with me," he replied.

"Hmm, ok," agreed Krys. "Tonight sound good?"

"It sounds enchanting, miss..."

"Krystal"

"Krystal..."

"Just Krystal"

"Very well, Miss Krystal. I'm Tom and tonight it is."

Krystal returned to Danger Base and found her squadmates already there. Jon and Gonar were trying to convince Serin to talk to the girl that they had picked for him. "What's there not to like about her?" asked Jon. "She's Vulcan, good-looking, smart, and single. If I didn't already have a girl picked out I'd go after Arsula myself."

"This is not the proper way to meet other people," calmly rejoined Serin. "The fact that you and Gonar altered the program so as to select this woman invalidates all of the results."

"You too logical for own good," started Gonar. "This be great girl for you. She just not know yet. We show you. Get her to ask you out to dance. You be grateful." With that, Gonar grabbed Jon and both cadets rushed out the door.

"Looks like the dynamic duo are at it again," commented Krystal.

"Their help is not needed. Indeed, it is quite unnecessary."

"Aw, give them a break. They mean well. They're just concerned that you don't socialize enough," explained Krys. "So, who did the boys pick as their future dance partners?"

"Cadet Gonar chose what he insists is a fetching example of Tellarite beauty and poise named Cadet Loraleth," answered Serin in his characteristic monotone. "Cadet Cabote chose a human woman, another fine specimen of humanity's eligible female population, or so he claims. Katrina Ray."
