"Interesting."

"What see you, Vulcan?"

"An Aldosian Lion trying to sneak up on us."

"Great," exclaimed Krstal as she drew out her phaser and set it on maximum power. The other two did the same.

"Gonar and I will move up and take positions. Krystal, stay here and protect the Commander."

Once the two cadets were hidden in sight of each other, they waited for the lion to approach. But the Aldosian Lion must have sensed something, for it waited out of sight.

"Patient it is. Relieve myself I will have to soon," thought Gonar as he waited in the bushes. Finally the lion became impatient and stealthily started to approach. Not seeing Gonar and Serin, it showed itself to the two cadets, who immediately fired their phasers. The whine of the phasers was punctuated by a scream of rage as the Aldosian Lion was enveloped by the two beams.

Surprisingly, it was still moving, and right at Serin. Cadet Serin took careful aim and drilled the beast between the eyes, dropping it unconscious. The fight over, Krystal came up to the other two.

"Dinner," declared Krystal.
"It is not dead," observed Serin.

Whack whack whack. "It is now," retorted Krystal.

After a small meal, which Serin refused to eat, the three cadets and their wounded teacher made their way to the shuttle again. At the crash site they were greeted with a strange sight.

"What the heck are those?"

"Short they are, looting they seem to be."

"There is not supposed to be any native life on Aldos."

"So either they're Federation researchers, Cardassian troops, or a figment of our imagination."

"Cranky you are when full you become."

"Shut up lard breath. At least I didn't eat the bloody heart."

"Ancient custom of Tellar."

"Like when you tried to convince me that Tellarites have to have double helpings of chocolate cake on days ending with a 'y'?"

"Perhaps it is time to make first contact," interrupted Serin.

"Why?"
