"Aldosian Lion
we could use, pull Commander's stretcher it could."
"Right, well just tame a lion. Maybe Serin can mind meld it."
"No suggestions do I hear from you, Zapsor Breath."
"At least I know not to bring up moronic suggestions, Lizard Brain."
"Children, we must get going if we are to reach the science station in
the next three days. Keep your phasers out at all times."
The trek through the jungle was, if anything, worse than the holodeck
of the ~Fearless~. Added to the dangers that they had practiced for was
the stark realization that there was no ~Fearless~ to transport them
away should anything go wrong.
"Krystal, try to hail the Federation station," ordered Serin.
"Ok." A few small adjustments to try to mask their signal, and Krystal
tried contacting the research outpost. "Federation Outpost, this is a
party from the ~USS Fearless~. Anybody read me?"
Static filled the airwaves as a muffled voice responded. "~Fearless~
party, identify yourselves and state your location."
"How do I know you aren't a Cardassian?"
"No Cardassians here. Only hoo-mahns. Friendly Federation weak-willed
lackeys minding our own business."

Krystal shut
off the communicator. "I guess the outpost has been captured."
"Strange sound."
"Sounds like a shuttle," said Serin in answer to Gonar.
The three looked around until Serin spotted the shuttle searching the
jungle.
"It is a Cardassian shuttle."
"Found we are, captured will we be."
"It is not coming here. Looks like it is heading for our crash site."
"If the science station has been captured, we would have a better shot
if we went after that shuttle," suggested Krystal.
"Hmm. An excellent idea."
It took the rest of the day to trek back to the crash site. After a
couple of hours the Cardassian shuttle was seen heading off. But
perhaps they had left a landing party, so the Cadets continued back to
the camp. They stopped a kilometer away from the crash site.
"Tricorder doesn't pick up any Cardassians," said Krystal.
