Duchess Olivia Fenlon Travels to Tharkad

New Avalon, Crucis March, Federated Suns

Duchess Olivia Fenlon, Minister of Foreign Relations, has traveled to Tharkad in the Lyran Commonwealth to discuss the Archon's Peace Proposal. The Duchess has been a vocal proponent of the Peace Proposal. She convinced Prince Hanse Davion to let her travel to Tharkad to discuss the Proposal with the Archon.

Prince Davion has been the only Successor Lord to express interest with Archon Katrina Steiner's Peace Proposal of early last year. Increased relations between the two realms would benefit both greatly. The Lyran Commonwealth has superb manufacturing capabilities while the Federated Suns has a strong and well organized military.

Duke Michael Hasek-Davion of New Syrtis has publicly denounced the Peace Proposal. He claims that it is a ruse by the Lyran Commonwealth to get military help against the Draconis Combine and the Free Worlds League. Duke Michael fears that this will weaken the Federated Suns sufficiently to provoke an invasion by the Capellan Confederation.

Star League Depot Found on Lee

Lee, Capellan March, Federated Suns

News out of Lee confirms the rumors of the discovery of a Star League Depot on the planet of Lee in the Alcyone Polymorphous Defense Zone. Federated Suns officials confirm that a Star League facility was unearthed almost a year ago. The New Avalon Institute of Science is currently in charge of the excavations. There has been no word on what has been found.

When asked, Dr. B. Banzai said that it is an important find for all of the Inner Sphere. Lee is close to the Capellan border but Dr. Banzai assured our reporter that the site is well protected by his mercenary unit, Team Banzai. The area is strictly off-limits to non-authorized personnel and a few curious civilians have reportedly been fired upon.

Confederation Raids Border Worlds

New Syrtis, Capellan March, Federated Suns

Raiding by the Capellan Confederation has increased in the last month. The Confederation struck at Valexa, Moravian, Cammal, Redfield, and Weekapaug. Each of the raids were conducted with mercenary units and all were aimed at military installations.

The raids on Moravian and Cammal succeeded in destroying the Defense Coordination Center on each of the worlds. The raid on Weekapaug destroyed some supply dumps. The raids on Valexa and Redfield were repulsed before any damage could be done.

Military alertness has been stepped up in the Valexa and Alcyone PDZs. The PDZ commanders have not called for reinforcements. They have assured us that the situation can be handled with the forces at hand. In any event, reinforcements would take a while to reach the Capellan March with the current fighting on the Draconis border.

Mercenary Units: The Waco Rangers

The Waco Rangers are a regiment-sized mercenary unit formed in 3007 by Wayne Waco. The unit started out as a reinforced company and were initially employed by the Capellan Confederation. The Rangers are known for being a bunch of misfits and rejects from other units - Colonel Waco asks few questions if a new recruit has a functional Battlemech.

The Rangers are best known for their Death Oath against Wolf's Dragoons. This came about when the Dragoons fought the Rangers on New Aragon in 3008. Reportedly the Dragoons were able to trap Wayne Waco's son, John, in a mountain pass. The Dragoon mechwarriors proceeded to batter John's Stinger until he ejected. One of the Dragoon mechwarriors then crushed John by stepping on him.

Since that incident the Rangers have sworn to show no mercy to any member of Wolf's Dragoons. The Waco Rangers also have a special clause in all of their contracts that allows them to cancel a contract if their employer hires Wolf's Dragoons.

The unit is currently employed by the Federated Suns.
