Island City Champions
Volume 2 of the campaign starts in 2085. The course of Worl War II took
a drastic turn when Franklin Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin, John Curtin, and
Chiang Kaishek were all assassinated by Devastatron (Braniac) at the
end of issue 16. Most importantly, the Soviet Union was plunged into
another Civil War, allowing Germany to concentrate forces and survive
to an armistice.
That was not to last long. The United States developed the atomic bomb,
while Germany developed its own arcane bomb. The resultant war was
short and yet much more destructive than World War II. It stalled
mankind for a hundred years, and it is only in 2085 when humanity is
once again at the level they would have achieved in 1985.
