Diary - Dec 04 to Dec 10 2021

Sat Dec 04 2021

Sleep 0500 to 1130. (6-1/2 hours)

  • Car still won't start. Now that I think about it (and checked my records) I've never replaced the 12v battery. It does last a lot longer on a hybrid but 14 years is a bit much.

Sun Dec 05 2021

Sleep 0645 to 1215. (5-1/2 hours)

  • I switched my Mac alert to Sonumi. It's more pleasant than the default beep though a bit long for an alert sound.

Mon Dec 06 2021

Sleep 0100 to 0700. 1230 to 1420. (8 hours)

  • Was going to call AAA for a jump start but the day slipped away. Now it's rush hour and don't want to make a tow truck drive through that if I can help it.

Tue Dec 07 2021

Sleep 0230 to 0930. (7 hours)

  • Pretty much finished my task. Was working 12-hour days since coming back from Thanksgiving. Still a little more to do but I'll be taking it easier for a couple of days.

Wed Dec 08 2021

Sleep 0045 to 0215. 1000 to 1215. (3-3/4 hours)

  • Got my car jumpstarted. AAA guy did a quick test and battery is dead so I need to replace. I drove for an hour and parked in the street because we have to clear the garage today. Need to call Toyota WC to schedule replacement and hopefully won't have to jumpstart car again.
  • Picked up new (normal distance) glasses. Wow my old glasses long range vision was bad. Now I can read signs again.
  • Got a bacon cheeseburger, garlic fries and coffee milkshake from Jeffrey's.

Thu Dec 09 2021

Sleep 0145 to 0845. (7 hours)

  • Received refund for remaining Comcast credit. So it didn't take a year.

Fri Dec 10 2021

Sleep 2130 to 0330. (6 hours)

  • Car started ok (was only two days). Since I had started really early in case I had to call AAA I drove El Camino for an hour and a half until I got to the 101 then took that to the 680 and drove to the car dealer.
  • Went to car dealer and had 12v battery replaced. The hybrid model 12v battery is special so it costs $350 instead of $200. AAA guy said much the same last Wednesday. They had standard batteries and could have otherwise replaced my battery on the spot.
  • Lunch at Buttercup. They require proof of vaccination. Good for them.
  • So the new glasses pretty good for driving though anything like 3 feet away or closer is pretty bad. Which I guess is expected but I couldn't even eat my meal with the glasses on, the plate of jambalaya was fuzzy and I couldn't tell what I was picking up with my spoon. And yet without glasses on also a little hard to see plate of food. Sadge.
