September 2020 Apple Event

This month's Apple Event was mostly about Watch an

Apple Watch Series 6 ($400) with a blood oxygen sensor and always-on altimeter. It's kind of neat how many sensors they can fit into the form factor.

Apple Watch SE ($280) - I guess difference is display is not always-on, no blood oxygen and ecg sensors, and I'm guessing last generation processor. For the budget-conscious you can still buy a series 3 for $200.

Fitness+ ($10/month or $80/year) - Video fitness which uses your Apple Watch for metrics. Kind of like Peloton.

iPad Air ($600 64 GB, $750 256 GB) - a 10.9 inch with no mechanical home button and in different colors.

iPad ($330 32 GB, $430 128 GB) - a 10.2 inch low-end model with A12 Bionic chip (so at least 2 generations old)

Apple One - bundled subscriptions:

  • Individual $15/month for Music, TV+, Arcade, 50 GB iCloud (save $6)
  • Family (Family Sharing up to 5) $20/month same as above with 200 GB iCloud (save $8)
  • Premier (Family Sharing up to 5) $30/month same as above with 2 TB iCloud, News+ and Fitness+ (save $25)

Apple One is the most interesting to me yet not worth it. Premier maybe if you share with other people. I think I'll stick with Apple Arcade.
